Case Study: Food Factory Wastewater Treatment 


Pollution Issue:  

Food production generates significant amounts of wastewater containing food residues, organic sludge, and other pollutants. If discharged untreated, this wastewater can cause severe environmental damage, contaminating water bodies and disrupting ecosystems.  


Solution:  

To address this issue, Polyacrylamide (PAM), specifically designed for food factory wastewater treatment, is used. This solution effectively removes contaminants, ensuring the treated water meets discharge standards.  


Treatment Process:  

1. Collection and Pre-Treatment:  

   - Wastewater flows into a collection and regulation tank.  

   - A front-end grid intercepts large particles.  


2. Flotation and Chemical Treatment:  

   - The wastewater is pumped into a flotation device, where specialized chemicals are added to remove suspended solids and organic matter.  


3. Anaerobic and Hydrolytic Acidification:  

   - The wastewater then flows into an anaerobic tank and a hydrolytic acidification tank, where hard-to-degrade organic matter is broken down to a manageable concentration.  


4. Aeration and Sedimentation:  

   - The wastewater enters an activated sludge tank for aeration treatment.  

   - After sedimentation, the sludge and water are separated.  


5. Final Discharge and Sludge Treatment:  

   - The clarified water is discharged through a filtration system.  

   - Excess sludge is directed to a sludge tank, where specialized chemicals are added.  

   - The sludge is then pumped into a screw press for dewatering and subsequent disposal.  


Treatment Effects:  

- Efficient Pollutant Removal: Significantly reduces the concentration of contaminants in the wastewater.  

- Compliance with Standards: Ensures the treated water meets environmental discharge regulations.  

- Sludge Management: Effectively handles organic sludge, minimizing secondary pollution.
